50 Years ago this 2023 U.S Nationals event, Don “The Snake” Prudhomme piloted the 1973 Care-Free Ed Pink Hemi Powered Plymouth Barracuda Funny Car from the number #1 qualifying position to the winners circle at the 1973 U.S. Nationals thus becoming the first driver in NHRA history to win Indy in 2 different pro categories, Top Fuel and Funny Car! “The Snake” defeated the 2 time defending event champion Ed “The Ace” Mcculloch in a classic side by side final while at the same  time setting a new NHRA national record of 6.35 e.t.!! This was Don Prudhomme’s first U.S. Nationals win in a Funny Car
